“The heartfelt and persistent prayer of a righteous man (believer) can accomplish much [when put into action and made effective by God—it is dynamic and can have tremendous power].”
James 5:16 [AMP]
The prayers we pray do much more for us than we ever realize. Our words are not just vain utterances, they are divine projectiles into the spiritual realm, which activate God’s power to work on our behalf. Whereas evil lurks all around, it is also true that when believers cease to pray, God ceases to act.
Prayers create.Romans 4:17 [AMP] says, “God gives life to the dead and calls into being that which does not exist.” Abraham held on to God’s promise that he would be a “father of many nations.”Despite being old in age and Sarah, his wife, being barren, Abraham did not become weak in faith. Romans 4:20-21 [AMP] says, “But he did not doubt or waver in unbelief concerning the promise of God, but he grew strong and empowered by faith, giving glory to God, being fully convinced that God had the power to do what He had promised.” You know the story’s end. Sarah bore Isaac, and under the new covenant, all who believe are joint-heirs of the promise together with Abraham. A believer’s effectual and fervent prayer, coupled with consistent faith in God, creates those things that be not as though they were. Activate bold prayers in faith.
Prayers recreate. The re-creative power of prayer is restorative – bringing a lost people back to God. Sometimes people wander away from God. Life’s challenges wear some down in the journey of faith or temptation lures others into a trap. When David found himself in similar entanglement, he desperately prayed Psalms 51:10-12 [AMP],“Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right and steadfast spirit within me. Do not cast me away from Your presence and do not take Your Holy Spirit from me. Restore to me the joy of Your salvation and sustain me with a willing spirit.” Sin separates us from God, but Jesus paid the price to redeem us back to God by His blood. Do you need to clean up your act? Prayerfully recreate your life in Jesus. Surrender to Him and let Him lead and guide you into newness of life.
“And My people, who are called by My Name, humble themselves, and pray and seek (crave, require as a necessity) My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear [them] from heaven, and forgive their sin and heal their land.”
2Chronicles 7:14 [AMP]
Next time you go to pray, know the power of the Almighty God to whom you pray. Speak life-giving words to both create and re-create purpose and destiny, and to superimpose God’s original plans for you, your family, your city and your nation. Prayer avails much!
